Why aren’t we WHenning?

The hangover is almost over. Watching ESPN and Monday night football doesn’t make my stomach hurt anymore. I can hear the word football without wanting to vomit. This was not the case after the Miami Dolphins lost yesterday afternoon. The bad taste is slowly leaving my mouth, but the reality is written.

I am reading everywhere and realise 90% of the Dolfans are blaming Dan Henning for why were not winning. Sure Henning is conservative and has had plenty of questionable calls, but everything that doesn’t work is always questioned. I understand the frustration of the hardcore Dolphin fan. You watch the team move the ball, but its obvious the Dolphins are allergic to the end zone. A fade route on 1st and 10, nowhere near the end zone, why? Why was this not attempted from the 4 yard line? A play action pass would be nice. A four wide bunch set and some cross patterns would be nice. Instead we settle for 3, nice.

Yes, I am apart of the Henning Hate Squad. I am also far from blind. I saw plenty of other reasons why the Dolphins lost, besides playcalling and the nonsense fumble ruling. Someone book Benny Sapp a flight back to Minnesota. What a joke his gameplay is. Where is Nate Jones when you need him? Jason Allen is the best choice at the number 2 corner, does your head hurt yet? I don’t want to fault him for getting beat, but goodness you had a 8 yard headstart. I saw Allen almost lost his footing again on that play. Where did he get his cletes from?

Elite teams finish the game. Elite teams bounce back from mistakes, and make you pay when you make mistakes. Could the defense be more horrid on 3rd down? When will the long kickoff returns against us stop. When will the Dolphins pick up another deep threat or playmaker. Ginn was traded away, but his break away speed was not replaced. Cobb’s holds onto the ball, but it seems that’s all he does when he returns kicks. What happend to the Mike Nolan super blitz schemes I heard about all pre-season?

I can go on and on with questions and head scratching material. The bottom line is Henning is only part of the problem. Friendships and business relations must be broken. Someone or some people’s feelings and careers are eventually going to be tampered with, if corrections aren’t made. Lets out-class and out-coach the other team for once. Staying close and almost winning doesn’t add up to a winning season.
