To say that the Miami Dolphins have a slim shot at making the playoffs is an understatement. For those fans who are still stewing over the loss to the Browns, this will make you that much more unhappy. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald the playoff picture for the Dolphins is so bleak that their best best is to win a tie-breaker with the Jets…and bunch of other stuff.
A couple of points on the Dolphins’ slim playoff hopes: If they win out and the Jets lose twice — thus putting both teams at 10-6 — the Jets must lose at home to Buffalo Jan. 2 and one of two other games (at Pittsburgh or at Chicago) for Miami to win a tiebreaker against the Jets. Miami’s chances of beating out Baltimore are even worse — the Dolphins must go 3-0 and the Ravens 0-3 (New Orleans, at Cleveland, Cincinnati). Even if either of those happen, Miami would lose a wild-card tiebreaker to Jacksonville if the Colts and Jaguars finish 10-6.So what does all this mean?
Simply put, root against the Colts, the Ravens, and the Jets. And then, pray to the Hall of Fame Gods that they align the planets.
