Poll: Should Sparano Stay Or Go

This is an easy poll.  The question is very simple.  Should Stephen Ross keep Tony Sparano or fire Tony Sparano.

It’s alot tougher question than people like to think it is. There’s been plenty of head coached who have started out worse off than TS did and went on to have successful careers in the NFL. Look at what TS inherited with the Dolphins and look where he’s at now. There’s been improvement. Also, at the beginning of this season, I don’t believe I was the only one saying “This team will only go as far as Chad Henne will take them.” Well, that question has been answered and it’s “not very far”. I would like to see TS get one more year but with a new OC and a new QB. Those two changes and those two changes only should account for much more success, given we bring in the right people but I think Sparano is a good coach. He just needs to work on his game management and be more aggressive. With one more chance, maybe he’ll open it up a little more feeling like he has nothing to lose.

The 1980′s system Sparano and Henning have in place will not change with out Sparano being fired, whatever he might say. Can a tiger change its stripes? NO! Can the timid suddenly become aggressive? NO!

I have been on both sides of the fence and keep changing my mind…today I finally made it up but with one caveat. If Stephen Ross is talking to anyone about becoming the Dolphins next HC…meaning specifically Jim Harbaugh, then he needs to fire Sparano regardless of what JH decides to do.

Reason is simple, if you are willing to fire your coach because you think someone is a better option, then you have no faith in your HC and should find a better option that is who should be coaching your team. Not a knock on Tony, but a realistic point of view. There is no vote of confidence in your HC if you are willing to explore other options and then change your mind…it says “I couldn’t land someone better”.

I disagree Brian. It only makes sense to explore your options to try to find the best coach or players for your team. Say he let Tony go and Harboaugh ended up not coming. Then what? The only guy I would have wanted to take Tony’s job was Cowher and it sounds like that’s not going down.

There are a lot of coaches that you can turn to. The point is you have given your HC a vote of no-confidence by looking elsewhere. IMO

I can’t agree more with the other posters. The Dolphins offense is playing to not lose, rather than to win. And, oh by the way, gutting the o-line made Henne’s job a lot tougher this year. Where would he be in his development now if he had the same line as last year?
