According to a report by Chris Mortenson, that I can not confirm yet personally, several Miami Dolphins coaches were packing boxes from the Davie offices. Another report out of the Mercury News in California is that Jim Harbaugh will accept the head coaching job in Miami.
Thus far Tony Sparano was not one of those coaches however that doesn’t mean that he won’t be later today. The Dolphins would need to abide by the Rooney Rule regarding minority interviewing before they can officially name Harbaugh the HC. Of course they also need to officially fire Tony Sparano as well. The Dolphins are set to interview Hugh Jackson tomorrow if he isn’t hired today by another team.
If the Dolphins fail to interview a minority prospect for the job of HC they face stiff fines from the NFL. Draft picks are not part of any discipline.
UPDATE: The latest rumor as of the time of this posting is that Sparano has indeed been fired. Official word has not been passed down yet.
