Closure Coming?

UPDATE: 3: Per the Miami Herald, Tony Sparano threatened to quit this afternoon, shortly before the scheduled “media briefing”.  That has since been rescheduled for noon tomorrow.  It’s likely that the two sides, and this is only my personal speculation, will talk more through this evening and then Sparano will “sleep” on his decision.

UPDATE: 2:  ESPN is reporting that Jim Harbaugh has signed a 5 year 25 million dollar deal with the 49ers.  It has also been reported by David Neal that Stephen Ross was supposed to meet with former Browns HC Eric Mangini to “pick his brain about the division rivals”.  He cancelled it today.  And the jokes….keep…rolling….in.

UPDATE:  O.k. this one is not my fault.  The Dolphins have postponed the press conference.  What the hell is going on down there?

The Miami Dolphins have called for a 4:45 PM news briefing, where local media are expecting to hear that Tony Sparano has agreed to an extension. Chris Mortensen of ESPN and Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald have both reported that Sparano and Stephen Ross have been negotiating a “contract adjustment”.  No word on anyone else, Ireland or Peterson, being at that meeting.

Stay tuned, looks like closure is on it’s way.

*Sigh* I think I might have more fun rooting for…i dunno….the Panthers? next year??? This is horrible.

  • mnasr

Canceling my NFL ticket subscription for next year. Any way we can hear this conference? (I don’t live in Miami).

    P.S….I’m PISSED.

To rub salt in the wound, Harbaugh as accepted a 5 year deal to be the Niners HC.

      For considerable less money.

I can’t help but think that JH somehow didn’t like the business ethcis, or lackof from Ross and Ireand. Regardless of what you think of Tony, the way he was treated was pathetic. One would think that between Ross, Dee & Ireland, they could muster up enough cells to make one decent brain on how to treat somebody.

Unbelievable. I’m absolutely speechless. This franchise is honestly worth nothing. No dignity, they clearly don’t care about the fans since none of us will ever get answers. For the first time in 22 years I will not watch my ‘phins. Its disgusting the way this team is running a circus. good riddance Miami!

  • BlabberMouth

That’s it, I’m not into Masochism. I’m now officially a New England Patriot fan. Steven Ross is the new Al Davis. Have fun all.

  • Darkoak

What a turn of events!?! It’s surreal that the field-goal fist pumper is coming back next season. The even more outrageous part is that he is getting an extension?!?!? 1-7 at home should not be rewarded, it’s beyond pathetic.

Stephen Ross is a complete and utter moron who must think that this fan base is stupid. He is lying to us about the Mangini meeting. I would never take Mangini over Sparano. It appears as if he just took his wallet out and burned it. He will see the results of his actions this week in the box office. Miami will become a road home game for the Fins opponents next year. The best thing that Ross can do is sell controlling ownership to someone that will take better care of the team.

I love this! I got upset last night and had esophageal spasms. It is not worth it for a bunch of overpaid, underworked players and coaches.

Here is the way I see this deal now. Ross thought he could land one of several coaches, but thought JH was the man. He did not land him. Now, Sparano is playing Ross’s hand. Get mad and get an extension. Which I can see Sparano getting mad before I get negative comments about that sentence. Now, Sparano gets what he wants. If any Dolphin fan is lucky, Sparano will leave.

I love the Dolphins, but I have had enough of them and this circus. When they decide they want to grow up and get players, coaches and owners that want to win, let me know. These idiots don’t realize how Blessed they really are and what a very nice comfortable living they have. I don’t feel for any of them. Do they feel sorry for me-that I would doubt very seriously. I wish they had to work for their money, but they whine and complain about it. I would be most glad to whine and complain if I could make what they make.

My last hope is that Sparano will quit. He has Ross right where he wants him now. What is this deal with loser Eric Mangini? This guy could not find his face out of a wet paper back and Ross is consulting him?????? Ross has proven the theory, lots of money and no common sense.

I completely agree with the people here-don’t buy tickets, don’t buy souveniers. It hurts to not do that, but sometimes that can lead to good things. That way the fans are in control, not Ross, Sparano or any of the Coaches or players. The fans control this. They forget they work for us fans because without fans buying this stuff, how do they get their lavish lifestyles?
