Is April Here Yet?

With all of this hoopla heading into Championship weekend, Miami Dolphins faithful can only look forward to off-season action in terms of trade-talks, free agent acquisitions and of course the draft. This all assuming everyone makes nice on Park Avenue in February to avoid, (heaven forbid) a work stoppage. I’m an optimist at heart and the work stoppage doesn’t scare me. What does scare me, however, is April’s draft.

This is NFL mock-draft season, and every draft guru out there is predicting certain college players to land with NFL teams, with extreme future-inaccuracy might I had. Hey, let’s be honest, the only people that know what’s going on in most cases are the ones in the war-room.  Who called Tim Tebow to the Broncos in the 1st round last April? Anyone?

I have learned my lesson when it comes to buying into February-April rumors. The only thing guys like me can do is speculate, and come up with educated-guesses as to why certain players would be an immediate great fit for a team.  Especially a team that is in desperate need of an A+ first rounder and overall draft at that.

Welcome aboard Jason. I enjoyed your article. I’m a displaced Dolphins fan in NJ, so I feel your pain. The Jets talk is everywhere. Not just the team and their blow hard of a head coach. The sports media, regular media, politicians, etc. Sadly all we have to discuss are the moves that are going to make this team better NEXT year. It’s getting quite tiresome!

I agree, the Dolphins should look to draft playmakers this year, ideally at the RB position. There’s a lot of time before the draft, but it’s fun to start looking ahead. I think, with the state of desperation the Dolphins are in, they will look to add a veteran QB to compete with Henne for the starting job.

welcome jason,i hope we keep our #15 pick and take the best player available.i know we need O but if the best impact player is defense i say we go for the past the fins have not done this and i believe it would work,’cause if we’re deep in one position that allows us to make trades for teams who have depth that we need elsewhere….agreed? if a pittsburg has d-line health issues and they’re deep at receiver? and so on.we’ve passed on some big ticket guys in the past and other teams have taken advantage of it IMO.
