Breaking down the Secondary Part III – Alpha CB

In part I we reviewed the Free Safety position, looking to provide an upgrade over Chris Clemons.  In part II we took a closer look at life without Yermiah Bell.  Now it’s time to focus on our cornerbacks, so let’s start with the Alpha positions in which is locked down by our former first round pick Vontae Davis.  We will see what options are available internally, throughout the draft and free agency.

Vontae is STILL terrible with his back to the QB. They need to make this stud tackling machine a Safety. He would be All-World!

There is not one part of Vontae’ game that can be termed as terrible. You can’t turn a pro bowl quality corner into a safety and stay employed in the NFL, so forget that! Safeties are far easier to find and are paid less. That is why corners outnumber safeties in the first round each and every year.

Completely agree with you regarding the free safety. As stated in part I, i really hope we go hard after Clemons safety Deandre McDaniel!

AWESOME ARTICLE. I learn so much from you and love your insight. Agree with your thoughts with the exception for Carey. From what I saw, he was most unimpressive and slow last year. The only time we heard his name was for an offsides penalty, which is unexcuseable for an o lineman. No?

PS. Saw your SB menu. You can come to my house and have Mexican if you want. lol lol

Very one sided and unfair. Sean Smith was better than VD last year.

MJ – i strongly disagree with you. Smith had a major drop in terms of production. How many times did he miss a pick 6 INT.
He regressed the most of any CB, plus Smith, plays the Beta CB not the alpha – two different positions
