If the title is amusing then surely you will enjoy the NFL Draft special of the same name the week leading up to the NFL Draft. Hosted by ESPN, the hour long epi will provide Bill Parcells a place to stand and tell the world why he is so great and finding talent.
Like, you know, Pat White. Patrick Turner. Ernest Wilford. Gibril Wilson.
O.k. so he didn’t exactly draft the last two, “but his sister did”. O.k., not really but for some reason that line from “Chunk” in “The Goonies” stuck in my head. Which is about as “goonie” as this idea.
What exactly makes Parcells so special anyways?
He has won two Super Bowls and lost another. Since leaving the NY Jets following a visit to the AFC Championship game, he took up the commentary chair on ESPN before running back to the game in Dallas where he really didn’t do anything more than butt heads with Jerry Jones and call Terry Glenn a “she”. Then of course he came to Miami, and did even less.
So for an hour we are to sit and watch this “NFL Icon” (which there is no denying) talk about his football drafting style. Which by the way is outdated and antiquated. Consider that Parcells still believes in prototypical size for every position and does not waiver on that when it’s his grocery cart.
I just hope that Jeff Ireland has enough common sense to say nothing to Parcells about his draft plans, to be honest, I wouldn’t trust the guy to keep his mouth shut.
But regardless, you can look for ” Bill Parcells Draft Confidential” during that final week of April heading to that Thursday night primetime round 1.
And for those of you wondering, according to Harvey Greene of the Dolphins, Parcells serves the Dolphins in no official capacity anymore.
