Eye in the Sky Part II – Closer look at Ahmad Black

Last week, we took a closer look at the top Free Safety prospect within this year’s draft class, DeAndre McDaniel.  Today we will review our fall back plan, Ahmad Black starting Safety for the Florida Gators.  Black has been on my target list, when we first broke down the secondary, let’s dig a little deeper on this local prospect and see what he might be able to bring to our team.

Our plan? Who’s our plan is this? Our (read the ‘fins) plan is to continue developing the promising young safeties we already have. Did you not get the memo that the 2010 ofseason is over?

Yes i did get the memo, but I dont think we have the players needed on our team to make a difference. You can’t tell me that you think Jones is ready to step in. Yes he had one great game, but wher was he the rest of the season.

DeAndre McDaniels would automatically upgrade our secondary, and would be considered an improvement over Clemons.

Why are you thinking that Clemons or Jones has proved enough to you to earn a starting spot?

Not a thing wrong with evaluating potential prospects even though all indicators are this is going to be a heavy offensive draft. The secondary can always use another ball hawk and if one “falls” to them as the BPA, it would be hard not to be tempted.

It probably comes down to what the coaches think of the new guys and FA Benny Sapp.Personally, I don’t see them drafting a S or CB, at least not until very late.
