There isn’t much information on what is going on in south Florida today but what we do know is that team captain Jake Long and QB Chad Henne are hoping that some of the offense will turn out for team only workouts that are scheduled to start today at the Nova University campus.
The campus is actually adjacent to the Miami Dolphins team training facility so the players will have no trouble finding it. The question is will players bother to show up at all? Henne has already found some hot water this off-season when he illegally met with new OC Brian Daboll prior to the lockout and discussed the new offensive system. Something he will start teaching to those who show up.
The issue isn’t whether the players want to get a jump start on the system but whether they heed the advice of their agents who are telling them not to do any voluntary workouts while locked out. The fear is that any injury sustained during these workouts could result in being placed on the non-football injury list when the lockout is over. In this case, the players do not get paid.
For now, we will wait to hear if anyone outside of Henne and Long showed up to get the work in. The Dolphins are one of the first teams to begin an unsupervised off-season program.
