Miami Dolphins To Set The Bar On Reggie Bush?

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network believes that one team is going to set the market for impending free agent Reggie Bush.  While JLC mentions the Rams and Eagles as possible suitors once the RB is released from the Saints into the FA market, it’s the Miami Dolphins that JLC will be the big player for his services.

Citing no sources specifically, La Canfora said on yesterdays “Total Access”, “From what I’m gathering, the Miami Dolphins might actually set the market for Reggie Bush.”

That should make some fans very happy as many here on this site have been hoping that the Dolphins would in fact bring in the electric runner.  If the rumor is true and the Dolphins do indeed go after Bush, they will fill their 3rd down back and punt returner at the same time.  Bush is 26 years old and has spent most of his NFL career answering questions about his time at USC.  Mistakes he made that cost the Trojans their BCS Title.

In Miami, the signing of Bush would be an overwhelming indication that Daniel Thomas will be the featured back and that the team will not run an “every other series” split between backs like they have done with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown.

Reggie Bush has yet to truly deliver on the talent that made him a number two overall pick by the Saints in 2006.  While his rushing yards and receiving yards are similar…both over 2,000, Bush has added a total of 29 touchdowns in his 5 years.  He also has lost 10 of his 19 fumbles.

Jason La Canfora may be right, or he may be wrong.  When the lockout is lifted and free agency begins.  We will find out.  In the meantime, feel free to discuss among yourselves!

Cory sheets is fine bush is way overrated.

Yes! Bring Bush in! Ok, so he is injury prone. From one of his previous interviews, he blames it on the turf, no turf here!!! He’s fast, exciting, and fairly smart. He gets caught up in the fast life and gossip. However, we wont have to worry about him bringing a gun into a south beach nightclub. End of the day, he’ll help sell tickets, move the ball and be a reliable receiver to Henne. I say bring T. Young and B. Smith Too!!! We have the fundamentals, now we need the spark! Go dolphins

I agree. Let’s see what Sheets can do.

I am all for Miami bringing in Reggie Bush. He is exactly what they need to add more speed to the team.

yess it would be great i hope it happens…. but the thing that really bothers me is that at the end of the day chad henne is our qb…and in my eyes i still think he doesnt have wat it takes to be a starting gb in the nfl… and at the end of the year wen we miss the playoffs again becouse our qb sucks everybody will finally give up on him and we are back to drafting a qb witch will be a bust……AGAIN… look if we get bush and a new saftey we can win now with one more piece…and that is a new qb…thers plenty of qb options out there that are 10 times better then henne…henne doesnt have leadership and he never will have it he doesnt have quick feet and never will…we need to let finsih it off with a new qb plain and simple if we want to win it all!!!!!!!!!!! go phins

Do you know a damn thing about football? Drew Brees would have sucked in the offense this team has run the last 2 years. You and all the other Henne haters should shut the He!! up and talk after this season is over. If there is something to cry about, that is!

    John Avery part II. Snooze.

  • MJ

He’s ok for most teams. For our team he’d be great just because we don’t have anything that resembles an explosive player besides Brandon Marshal. We don’t like those kind of guys.

  • Ranadicus

Kevin Smith has a longer average per catch (9.1 career, 11.2 last season) and he’s 215 so he can also run up the middle. He can be both the third down back and the second string back. Additionaly, and he’s only 24 and not overpaid.

Brian, do you know what “set the bar” means? Did you mean “set sights”?

  • Dale

Big Mistake. This guys isn’t worth it. Shaggy said it – “We have Corey Sheets”. We don’t need Bush and all of his baggage

This is typical Dolphin Free-Ag. B.S… High expectations that rarely pan out. Lose the name recognition and lets look at numbers, performance, injuries, etc. Mark my words guys… If the Phins pick up Bush, he’ll be productive for a couple of games and either get injured or fade away like so many before. I hate to say it, but …what would Belichek do? Hate to sound pessimistic but I seen it too many times before!
