Tuesday brought a quiet reserve to the flow of information out of Miami. A few scattered rumors but really nothing more. Wednesday morning starts with the news that the Miami Dolphins are set to sign their first free agent of the 2011 season. Cleveland Browns OLB Justin Trusnik.
Trusnik was a 2007 un-drafted free agent of the NY Jets who was part of the trade deal that sent Braylon Edwards to NY. In that trade, new Cleveland head coach specifically wanted Trusnik as part of the deal. That coach was Eric Mangini who brought Trusnik into the NFL while coaching the Jets. This off-season, Mangini has been consulting with Dolphins HC Tony Sparano. Draw your own conclusions.
In addition, new Dolphins LB coach Bryan Cox…yes that one…also worked with Trusnik and OC Brian Daboll…also from Cleveland knows the kid. Trusnik will add depth and help on the special teams. Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel is reporting that it could be a 2 year deal.
