Earlier today the talk centered around the Miami Dolphins making a major power play by working out a deal with FA RB Ahmad Bradshaw. At one point, NFL Network was reporting that Miami was the odds on favorite to land the young speedy back. Then, silence. Nothing. Nada. Nil. Now, it appears that Miami has withdrawn from the race for his services as they did with DeAngelo Williams.
According to Omar Kelly the RB has taken himself out of the Dolphins price range. Earlier today DeAngelo Williams inked a 5 year, 43 million dollar deal with 21 mill guaranteed to stay in Carolina. It’s likely that Bradshaw’s numbers were heading northerly into that territory. With free agency still an infant for 2011 but growing up fast, the Dolphins will turn their attention elsewhere if not within.
It was reported by John Clayton that the Dolphins were in talks with Ronnie Brown. On the surface it would make sense but does not fill the void of a speed runner. Brown and rookie Daniel Thomas are both comparable in style. It’s still possible that Miami could look to add any number of other tailbacks in the next couple of days. Darren Sproles, Kevin Smith, and Reggie Bush should all be available when free agency officially opens on Friday.
For now, looks like the Mike Dee declaration is true. The Dolphins will be aggressive but will also be smart.
