The Miami Dolphins have their first scheduled free agent visit set for this evening when former Dallas Cowboy and San Diego Charger ILB Kevin Burnett makes a visit to Davie. Burnett was with the Cowboys from 2005 until 2009 when he joined the Chargers. He was in Dallas the same time that Sparano and Jeff Ireland were, so their paths have crossed before.
At 28 years old, Burnett has been more productive than recently released ILB Channing Crowder however Crowder has started every game in which he was healthy. Burnett started 7 games in 2009 and all 16 last year. While there is nothing eminent about him signing with Miami, it would be very much out of character for the Dolphins to release a player on the assumption they were going to land his replacement.
A stat breakdown comparison of the two are after the jump.
