The Miami Dolphins owner, Stephen Ross, is speaking to members of the local Miami media before the team takes the field for their first practice.
The hot topic is Chad Henne. Ross has said that he doesn’t believe there are significant upgrades over Chad Henne on the free agent market and is fine with the way Jeff Ireland is handling the Kyle Orton situations. Also said that Chad Henne really became a leader this off-season and took control of the team. Here are some of the quotes from this media meeting: I am not, sorry to say, one of the media present and, like you am relying on several media members who are there for the quotes. Thanks to them!
“One thing that’s good about a lockout is that Chad was able to exert his leadership skills. He took the lead in the offseason.”
“What we’ve done so far is surround him with parts that can open up our offense and make him better,” Steve Ross on Chad Henne.
“I thought (Bush) would be a great addition. An exciting player. Anytime he touches the ball, there’s a potential TD in his hands.”
“Speed has been addressed. That will open up the offense. I brought in a coordinator who is committed to that,”
“There are three games we should have won for sure, plus Pittsburgh. Turn it around and look at what our record should have been,”
“What does an owner do. He’s got to bring in good people and rely on them…Jeff’s a smart person. He doesn’t panic,”
“When you’re building a football team there’s got to be consistency…You have to have good smart people dedicated to it,” Steve Ross said.
“Tony is a great guy. The players like him. But he’s got to win this season,” Ross said – That sounds awfully like a “HOT SEAT”
