The Miami Dolphins, according Jeff Darlington, of the Miami Herald, have signed ILB Kevin Burnett to a contract. Terms undisclosed. Burnett was drafted in 2007 by the Dallas Cowboys and spent the last two season with the San Diego Chargers. The deal is reportedly for 4 years.
Burnett should have an immediate impact on the team next to Karlos Dansby. He registered a combined 95 tackles and 6 sacks last season with San Diego and added two INT’s and a touchdown as well. He will obviously start immediately will replace Channing Crowder who was released only a few hours ago. Hed is only 28 years old. He has for his career, over 240 tackles, 63 assists, 12.5 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles.
The Miami Dolphins have made their second big splash of the new year after adding RB Reggie Bush yesterday. Burnett can not start practicing with the team until next Thursday.
