UPDATE: Going to the practice today? The Miami Dolphins are hosting their annual “Family Day“. Check it out!
The Miami Dolphins made some moves yesterday, two of the moves they didn’t make, have people talking. The trade for Kyle Orton and signing first round draft pick Mike Pouncey. The latter of which should be announced soon, I would assume.
Despite a late flurry of rumors and speculation, this morning brings the word that Miami Dolphins and the trade for Orton are dead. Leaving many fans and media asking, “This is the competition for Chad Henne?” In regards to the team signing Matt Moore to a 2 year 5 million dollar deal.
The Dolphins do have the rest of their draft picks signed however. Earlier in the evening they reached agreement with Daniel Thomas and late last night signed Clyde “Edmond” Gates to a 4 year deal.
Perhaps the bigger news, considering the lack of Orton trade, was the release of LB Channing Crowder and the signing of free agent middle linebacker Kevin Burnett a short few hours later. The Dolphins added Burnett for 5 years with 10 million guaranteed. Crowder could be re-signed later to add depth but it’s not likely.
Today the Dolphins will work at getting the Pouncey deal done and more players on to their rosters. The question now is will those new players show some of their old players the door…like Crowder saw yesterday?
On another note, the charges against Brandon Marshall‘s wife have been dismissed allowing Marshall to fall on broken glass again the next time they get into an arguement.
