Tonight is the big night that we finally get to take a first look at the Dolphins big free agent QB signing — Matt Moore. The question on my mind is “what will the Dolphins get with Matt Moore?”. The bottomline answer is it depends on the vintage!
Matt Moore is 6’3″ and 202 pounds — actually about the same size as Pat Devlin and much smaller than Chad Henne. He was undrafted in 2007 out of Oregon State University, actually picked up as an undrafted free agent rookie by Dallas (go figure — Tony Sparano). He was picked up that same year by the Carolina Pathers and went on to play there for four years. He played in 9 games in 2007, 0 in 2008, started 7 in 2009, and started 6 games in 2010. After his poor performance in 2010 on a terrible Panther team, he was benched in favor of rookie Jimmy Clausen. The table below summarizes Moore’s performance during his last two years of college and last two years in the pros.

Gene Hauze joined PhinPhanatic in 2011. He has been a Dolphins' fan since 1969 when at age 10 he wrote to the Dolphins and received helmet stickers from Dolphins Public Relations.
Gene is married and lives with his wife in the mountain resort of Massanutten in the western part of Virginia. He is retired and works part time as a high school referee. Thus, he is also known on the web as MassanuttenRef.
