Joe Robbie is set to re-join his beloved Miami Dolphins. He has been away since 2005 when his bronze figured statue was packed away during a renovation and forgotten about. On Monday, the team will be unveiling a plaza around the stadium that Joe Robbie built from his own pocket in his name. It will be the first time since the stadium was changed to Pro-Player Stadium that Robbie will have his name affiliated with the stadium.
His statue will become a permanent fixture of that plaza. And perhaps with his embodiment being restored, the Dolphins can put some demons behind them. The article below is a very interesting read regarding the loss and re-discovery of the first Miami Dolphins legend.
You know, for all the black eyes this team has endured over the last year…this is a class move by a new owner to bridge a long lost gap to the Dolphins founding father. Kudos to Stephen Ross and Mike Dee for seeing the importance of remembering and honoring the past.
