The Miami Dolphins will likely have to face former Florida Gator QB Tim Tebow when they return home in two weeks. Today, the Broncos benched starter and Miami Dolphins fans favorite for trade Kyle Orton in favor of the third string QB. In two weeks, Denver will visit Miami as they host the 2008 National Champion Florida Gators, the same team that was led by Tebow.
The event was a way to honor the Florida team and recognize the thousands of Florida fans residing in the Miami area. CEO Mike Dee found it a way to bring fans into the stadium. It was expected that the Broncos would be starting Kyle Orton. After today Sunday’s game that is no longer a given.
While Tebow did not win the game for the Broncos, he didn’t lose it either. In fact he led the team on two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter and took the lead. The Denver defense gave up the game winning field goal. Tebow came back onto the field for a final drive with less than 20 seconds left. He took the Broncos to the Charger 39 yard line before throwing an incomplete hail Mary into the Charger endzone.
While it’s still too early to tell if Tebow will be the QB for Miami’s next home game, it’s safe to say that the speculation will in fact be present.
