Dolphins Sign JP Losman

The days of Sage Rosenfels have come, never really arrived, and are now gone as the team place him on the non-football illness/injury list.  In his place, the Miami Dolphins signed former Buffalo Bills QB J.P. Losman.

The Dolphins signed Rosenfels a few days after losing Chad Henne for the season.  It should really come as no surprise that the powers that be, namely Jeff Ireland, has swung and missed yet again.  Rosensfels who missed considerable time in NY Giants training camp due to a blood disorder was supposedly cleared when he worked out for Miami.

Apparently, according to a released statement by Rosenfels, the practices and Florida heat made the symptoms return.  The Dolphins once again took a chance on a veteran player with a questionable past.

So now the team will turn to JP Losman to back-up the hit and run struck QB Matt Moore who has been trampled on more times that a runner in Pamplona, Spain during a bull run.  The Dolphins are inept on the offensive line stopping opposing pass rushes.  Regardless of whether they get the sack, the QB is often hit.  Moore who can scramble hasn’t been able to get his legs under him yet.

So with 10 weeks left in the season and no bye week on the horizon, the Dolphins may need to seriously consider allowing Pat Devlin the opportunity to play instead of re-treading veterans.  It will at the very least allow the team an opportunity to see what Devlin has.  Perhaps that will happen when and if a coaching change is made.

Dolphins fans will not likely get a good look at Losman, who last played with the Seattle Seahawks last season but never threw a pass, until Moore goes down.  The last time Losman played in a game was with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL league where he led them to the championship.

Matt Moore suffered bruised ribs according to NFL Network in the game last week against the Broncos.  So it’s likely that Phins fans will see Losman sooner rather than later with the knocking around Moore is taking.  He has been sacked 8 times and hit more than 20.
