Thanks to all of you who took the time to donate this past month in an effort to raise money for the Miami Dolphins Cycling Challenge to fight cancer. This year, Miami Dolphins fan websites were challenged to raise $1,200.00 in donations between us. We here at PhinPhanatic.com took the task seriously and I reached out to all of you, our dedicated readers. You didn’t disappoint.
This site raised a total of $551.00 for our rider, Tom Eddie. Tom, a former fan site webmaster lost his battle with cancer four years ago. Tom’s dedication to his site and the respect that he had among his peers did not go without notice. Each year the Miami Dolphins host a “web weekend” event and one of the events is an awards ceremony where fan sites are honored with awards that are voted on by our peers. The top award, “Best Overall Site” is named after Tom Eddie. This year, Phinphanatic won that award.
Overall, the ride for a cure was a huge success. Dolphins fan sites raised a total of over $1,700.00 in Tom’s name, led by our 551. The cycling challenge as a whole, which this year was dedicated in the memory of former Miami Dolphins great Jim “Maddog” Mandich raised over $800,000.00 for the University of Miami’s Sylvester Cancer Center which is also a research center. Jim Mandich was a patient of theirs.
It was an absolute honor to raise the money we did for this cause and I can’t thank our dedicated readers for their efforts and contributions. Thank you for taking up our task and making it the success it was. This site is such a reflection of it’s visitors!
