Brandon Marshall just can’t seem to stay out of trouble and if it continues, he may find a new head coach less willing to put up with his garbage. Marshall, the Miami Dolphins enigmatic WR was detained by police on November 14th after attempting to stiff a cab driver for 142.00 dollars.
The incident occurred around 5 am according to a report by the South Florida Times. Marshall apparently was “woken” up by the cab driver and Marshall began arguing with him and told him to take him home. Marshall apparently then tried to flee in another cab and was detained by police and the issue was resolved. Marshall is blaming the “misunderstanding” on the cab drivers accent.
What should be asked here is why Marshall was asleep in a cab at 5:00 am? The team was off following the Washington Redskins game the day before and according to the SFT report, Marshall attended the 30th birthday party of Karlos Dansby the night before. Helluva party!
Marshall has had off-field issues every year since his Denver Broncos rookie campaign including a shooting that left a close friend dead, an incident at home that left him with a severely injured hand, and last years stabbing at his residence by his wife in what was also claimed to be a misunderstanding. To Marshall’s credit, whatever he was doing at least he was smart enough to call the cab in the first place.
While this incident surely pails in comparison to his other issues it’s still one more off-field run in that the receiver doesn’t need. Marshall is in his second year of a four year deal that guaranteed him 24 million dollars.
