With two coaches knocked out before the end of the season, are we going to see a return of last years firing squad? Last year when one coach went down the others followed. I think we might see a new trend forming in the NFL.
Last year we saw firing of five coaches before the end of the year:
- Wade Phillips on Nov. 8th
- Brad Childress on Nov. 22nd
- Josh McDaniels on Dec. 5th
- Mike Singletary on Dec. 26th
- John Fox on Dec. 31st
This year seems to have the same trend:
- Jack Del Rio on Nov. 29th
- Todd Haley on Dec. 12th
So if the trends of last year hold, there should be two or three more coaches to be fired before New Year’s Day. The next coaches on the Hot Seat are Tony Sparano, Andy Reid, Jim Caldwell, and Norv Turner. Call it a hunch, but I don’t see at least one of these guys making it to the New Year.
If Steven Ross (Dolphins Owner) wants to fire Sparano and keep Jeff Ireland he might want to do so before the end of the season, at the latest, otherwise the two of them will seem to be locked together.
