According to ESPN, Jeff Fisher is now in Miami with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and GM Jeff Ireland. For all intent and purposes, this is not an interview. This is a seduction. Whether the enticing factor is money, the facility which is a state of the art complex, or whether it’s the promise of better than Nashville, TN weather, who knows. What is for certain is that Fisher will be coddled by Ross and Ireland as they look to take Fisher off the market.
I’m told that Fisher could also retain his Tennessee title and full personnel power over Ireland. Fisher will not likely want to deal with the issues he did with the Titans. In St. Louis he would get to pick his GM so power will be a must.
Following Sunday’s win against the NY Jets, several local media reported that Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden had told Ross through channels that they were not interested. Fisher became the next big name on the wish list for the Dolphins. If they can land him, we will know within a day as the Dolphins will pull out all the stops to keep him from leaving Miami and allowing him to visit any other teams.
