Coaching Prospects: Coordinator Verses Coordinator

Looking at the coordinators, that have been announced by the Dolphins as possible coaching prospects, I went ahead and looked at the main things the Dolphins should be focusing on.

Age – Steven Ross is looking for a young coach that can be his new Don Shula.

Type – The type of coordinator. Offense is the main thing the Dolphins should be going after.

Specialty – The specialty they have couched before going to coordinator. Dolphins should be searching for someone that has Quarterback coaching experience.

Calls Plays – Does the coordinators actually call the plays for their team?

Rank – Where did their specific field rank this year across the NFL?

Everything is scored on a 5 point scale. Click Image to make it bigger.

At the end, it looks like there is only one coach that matches everything the Dolphins need in a new head coach, Pete Carmichael Jr.

Two others should be looked at and also interviewed, Rob Chudzinski and Dave Toub.

I left Mike McCoy out, because he shouldn’t even be considered. He can’t even figure out how to get the best out of Tim Tebow. He is one of those coaches that can not seem to get the best out of his players and call plays the way the players play and not the way you want them to. I’ve been saying this all year, let Jim Harbaugh get him hands on Tim Tebow, and see what happens. I would have never put him on this list, but Ross said he wants to interview him.

Topics: Chuck Pagano, Dave Toub, Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphins, Mike McCoy, Mike Zimmer, Pete Carmichael Jr, Rob Chudzinski, Stephen Ross

    I hope the Dolphins bring Marty Shotteneimer in

    McCoy and Toub would be mistakes. I like Chud and Carmichael, but Pete would probably command a big salary. There is a reason that coaches are turning down this job and it most likely to do with control. I think keeping Ireland is a mistake, but Ross doesn’t have a clue and his nose ring has been pulled by Jeff from the start. These top prospects won’t come cheap and Ross is a notorious low-baller.

      Only 3 coaches have power over GM, Belichick, shanahan, And pete carroll. Rams may not be giving Fish full control either…not the issue. Issue here was Fisher wanted it and couldnt get it. In stl he will get closer by getting his own GN

    @Lespaul Bitc Bitc so negative

    I would have liked a break down of how these coordinators did against teams with a winning record. Blowing out the hapless Colts 62-7 shouldn’t have as much weight as beating the Giants 49-24.

    @Lespaul Here we go again…

    I would love to see Rob Chudzinksi come in here. He knows Miami from his playing days as a Hurricane. He might be able to get one of the many “Hurricane” tight ends to come here. I think with him, we could keep Nolan and possibly Daboll as long as he is willing to alter his scheme a litlle. Carmichael would be my next choice. Come on Miami do your due diligence and get these guys in here!

    @Giacomo1 Well your talking about the same guy, so it doesn’t seem to make since to contrast the two, but I will work on that now.

    Chuck Pagano – 6-0 so far.

    Mike McCoy – 2-4, beat Bengals and Steelers. *Lost to New England twice.*

    Mike Zimmer – 0-8, only beat teams with losing records.

    Pete Carmichael Jr. – 6-1, lost to the 49ers. Beat division rivals 3 times.

    Rob Chudzinski – 1-6, beat Houston.

    @kirk_orion this is a football team in the NFL not a nursing home.

    @Giacomo1 I didn’t add in Joe Philbin, due to the fact, he doesn’t call the plays. I also couldn’t add in Toub , because it wasn’t the Bears Special Teams that won any of those games.

    @drumzan@Lespaul Ross isn’t acquiring much respect….at some point you have to ask why.
