There is much talk in the media and blogosphere about Miami acquiring free agent QB Matt Flynn.  The hope is that Flynn can be the next franchise QB for the Dolphins. The potential franchise tag is based on his good performances for the Green Bay Packers in Week 15 of 2010 against the New England Patriots and in Week 17 of 2011 against the Detroit Lions.  But, what else has Matt Flynn done?  What is Matt Flynn’s College and NFL Resume?

Matt Flynn was born on June 20, 1985 in Tyler, Texas — he is currently 26 years old.  He was drafted in the 7th round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.  He is 6’2″ in height and 225 lbs in weight.  He played four seasons in college for the LSU Tigers with only one full season as their starter.  Flynn participated in the 2008 NFL Combine running 4.79 seconds in the 40 yard dash and 4.34 seconds in the 20 yard shuttle, plus jumping 28 inches in the vertical jump and 109 inches in the broad jump — these are basically above average numbers for a QB.  Flynn actually was in the same 2008 NFL Draft as Chad Henne, who went in the 2nd round.  Flynn’s 6’2″ & 225 lbs are slightly below average for an NFL QB — consider that Chad Henne is 6’3″ & 230 lbs, Peyton Manning is 6’5″ & 230 lbs, and Matt Moore is 6’3″ & 203 lbs.  It should be noted that Robert Griffin III (Baylor) is listed (pre-combine, if you believe it) as 6’2″ & 220 lbs.
