According to a report by Gregg Rosenthal on nfl.com, Jeff Ireland, the current general manager of the Miami Dolphins, is officially on the hot-seat after yesterday’s embarrassing loss to the Houston Texans (30-10).
You can read the article here:
Ireland clearly has made no progress in the last two seasons as far as the talent on the current roster is concerned. Finding talent and keeping talent seems to be Ireland’s biggest issue.
Although Ireland has hit on a few draft selections and a few free agent signings, the Miami Dolphins’ general manager clearly is not getting the job done. Ireland has wasted high draft selections on players such as QB Pat White (2nd round – most notably) and CB Vontae Davis (1st round – recently traded to Indianapolis).
It was revealed during HBO’s hit series, Hard Knocks, that Ireland has been around football his whole life and has been around NFL talent for twenty some years. If this is true, shouldn’t Ireland be able to find the talent to build an NFL roster?
If Miami is to only achieve a 4-12 or 5-11 season – which seems highly likely after watching yesterday’s game, Miami Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross should have no reason to keep Jeff Ireland aboard.
Maybe a change up front is the spark this team needs….
