How Is Your Fantasy Season Shaping Up?

So you were all excited about your draft!  Landed the top QB, got a steal in round 2 with a top RB, drafted Rob Gronkowski at the top of round 3.  Yet if you are in one of those standard leagues, you likely are none to thrilled with the outcome this far.  In fact, you may very well be scratching your head wondering why you have Gronk, Stafford, and Jamaal Charles and are still sporting only one win.

Drew Brees is putting up yardage numbers but his TD points have become the bonus.  Tom Brady is not in most leagues top 10 taking up a spot behind guys like Christian Ponder, Andy Dalton, and Matt Ryan as well as two NFL rookies.  RGIII and Andrew Luck.  Most fantasy players took Brady in the top half of round 2 and those that opted for Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees are not finding their production matching that of a top end QB.

The RB positions has had better results at least.  Arian Foster is in the top five as is Ray Rice.  For those who got auto-picked with Maurice Jones-Drew or took him in round 2 are pleasantly surprised while those who drafted Darren McFadden and LeSean McCoy are scratching their heads a bit.  Jamaal Charles ranked himself up last weekend with an over 200 yard combined effort but where was he the first two weeks?

Instead, Reggie Bush and CJ Spiller led the league up until injuries sidelined them last week.  Neither player was drafted in most leagues before round 5.  Adrian Peterson is holding up well for a 2nd round pick while Charles Johnson is nowhere to be seen.  Yet Washington’s little known Alfred Morris is racking up points.  Isn’t fantasy football fun?

A lot of debate went into the top TE’s in this years draft.  Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, and Aaron Hernandez.  Hernandez is hurt and Gronk and Graham are playing like any other TE.  In fact, Martellus Bennett of the NY Giants went un-drafted in most leagues and has scored as much if not more than the other two.  As has Heath Miller of the Steelers who you can still find in the free agent list.

WR’s are a dime a dozen they say and this year is proving that to be the case.  Danny Amendola?  Seriously?  The elite WR’s are still sitting close to the top in most scoring formats but some like Andre’ Johnson have dropped as has consensus 2nd rounders Brandon Marshall and Greg Jennings.  Still, no one is running away with the points this year except AJ Green of Cincinnati.

Somehow the draft experts weren’t all on the same page this year.  Injuries, bad play by the QB’s, running games that are slowed by poor Oline play.  All of it plays into the equation.  The good news is that this is just week 3 and there is a lot of time left to make that unprecedented run you were expecting only minutes after your draft concluded.  Such is fantasy football.

So how has your season played out this year?  As expected?  Worse?  Or are you one of those lucky teams who thought they drafted bad only to lead most statistical categories?  Either way, for all us 0-3 teams out there.  This is the week we need to get a win.  Going to 0-4 is not an easy hill to climb.  So with that, good luck!
