99.9 percent of the time you hate, loathe, and want nothing to do with the New England Patriots. This week the Patriots will visit Miami and while the week will be spent chatting it up about what we can expect…it could get ugly, for now, we can relish in that .1% of the time that you can actually like the New England Patriots. It seems that the Patriots grand thumping of the N.Y. Jets has extinguished the fire of one “Fireman Ed”.
Fireman Ed has announced that he is retiring (quitting) his public persona and will now move forward simply as Ed Anzalone. The Patriots whooping of the Jets apparently the final straw, Ed left the stadium at half-time, deleted his “Twitter” account, and now has abandoned his alter-ego. He is stating to the NY media that it’s because of his growing confrontations with other Jets fans at the stadium. Discontent reigns everywhere these days.
Rex Ryan actually addressed his saddened heart at a presser on Monday saying that “if he could play linebacker, I could use him”. Even former Jets Kris Jenkins Tweeted, “Fireman Ed quit? Must have gone back to the Dolphins”.
Of course the worst part of this announcement is now every Jets game will feature shots of Ed Anzalone in the stands without his hat and the announcers saying “Oh there’s Fireman Ed” and blah…blah…blah. Maybe that will prompt him to leave the stadium all together and watch from home.
Oh and Jets fans…if I spelled his name wrong…I really don’t care.
