The Miami Dolphins lost FB/TE Charles Clay today when the team put him or are set to put him on IR.  Clay injured his knee in Sunday’s game when a Jaguar defender lowered his body and took out Clay’s legs.  Today it was revealed through Clay’s agent that the injury is a ligament issue and that season ending surgery will be required.  No timetable was offered in terms of recovery.

Following the hit early in the game, Clay limped off the field but did not return.

In addition to Clay, the Dolphins may have lost RB Daniel Thomas for the last two seasons and the Dolphins may opt to put him on IR as well.  Thomas suffered a far less severe knee injury to Clay’s.  Initial indications are that he could miss one or two games and the team is reviewing the option of placing him on IR with two games left in the season.   Thomas by all accounts should have no problems recovering in time for off-season workouts.

The Dolphins have two games left in the season.
