According to Ben Volin of The Palm Beach Post, the Miami Dolphins have claimed Dimitri Patterson off of waivers. Patterson is under contract until 2014.
Patterson has been on four teams (Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns) in his seven-year career. Throughout his NFL experience, the Miami native has recorded a total of 152 tackles, one forced fumble, and five interceptions.
In this league, it is really based on what have you done for me lately, and subsequently Patterson has contributed a quiet year with only 28 total tackles.
This move by Ireland could be a sleeper in the end. With a number of injuries becoming relevant, this signing can present opponents with some trouble, on one side there is Sean Smith, the other could be Patterson. Additionally, Miami is not mathematically out of the AFC Wild Card picture.
