Apparently Mike Wallace isn’t the only Pittsburgh player that Jeff Ireland is looking at. According to a member of NFL.com the Miami Dolphins are the center of a lot of buzz regarding 25 year old running back Rashard Mendenhall.
The Dolphins have let Reggie Bush walk but this, if true, would show little faith in their 2nd round draft pick of two seasons ago, Daniel Thomas. Thomas would likely not be in the teams future if the team did indeed sign Mendenhall to a contract.
Mendenhall has spent time injured but there is no denying that when healthy, he is a hard runner to take down. The Dolphins are relying on sophomore and unproven Lamar Miller and Thomas to man their corp. Mendenhall would bring a cheaper option than Reggie Bush but it’s unknown how exactly he would fit into the Miami Dolphins offense. Perhaps on the goal line or short yardage situations.
