Well, the title is a little erroneous, I can guarantee you the Miami Dolphins will not draft a running back, middle linebacker, DT, or quarterback with their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks. Every other position is a big possibility. Consider what the Dolphins have done in free agency and then ask yourself if they would pass on one of those positions they added in the market.
OT – With Jake Long gone, the option to add an OT at number 12 is in play. Tomorrow, it may not be. Regardless, you can expect the Dolphins to add at least one offensive lineman in the first four rounds of the draft.
TE - Yes, the Dolphins added a seam TE in Dustin Keller but they also signed him to a one year deal. With Michael Egnew and Kyle Miller the only other TE’s on the roster, the Dolphins will take a very long look at drafting a TE with one of their first four picks. Tyler Eiffert could be a first round option or they could opt to wait until late 2nd or early third and grab Gavin Escobar. Regardless, it appears the Dolphins will need to add their future TE this year.
WR – Brandon Gibson and Mike Wallace are Miami Dolphins. Davone Bess is as well. For now. Pure speculation of course but could Jeff Ireland pass the opportunity to add a Tavon Austin if he is there at number 12?
DE/LB – Ireland swapped out Dansby and Burnett for Ellerbe and Wheeler so it’s safe to say that they won’t be looking for a middle linebacker come April. But they could use their pick on an edge rusher. Barkevious Mingo perhaps?
CB – Ummmm, yeah.
Safety – Reshad Jones has had one stellar season but who plays next to him in the secondary?
The Dolphins have needs and they have the draft picks to get younger and faster. In addition, the NFL will be announcing the awarded compensation picks at any time. Stay tuned.
