Yesterday, Ryan Tannehill brought together my two passions in life: tennis and Miami Dolphins football. The sophomore NFL quarterback found himself in a relatively new element in the Sony Ericsson celebrity tennis tournament. Tannehill joined NFL lineman Bryant McKinnie (currently a free agent) and Nadia Petrova (Russia) and Katarina Srebotnik (Slovenia) of the Women’s Tennis Association in a mixed doubles exhibition match.
With wife Lauren looking on, Ryan got the chance to escape what has been a hectic off season for the Fins and enjoy playing one of the most enjoyable recreational sports out there. After his exhibition, Ryan and Lauren sat back and got to watch the pros take the court. Two seed Andy Murray (Great Britain) proved to be too much for nine seed Marin Cilic (Croatia) 6-4, 6-3.
The good news: Tannehill escaped the match unharmed.
Hopefully this is the end of Tannehill’s tennis career.
