The Miami Dolphins have waived wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield and replaced Sinkfield with wide receiver Courtney Gardner.

Sinkfield, a 6-foot 198 lbs. receiver of Northern Iowa, was the man whom ran a blazing 4.19 forty-yard dash at his pro-day. Many projected Sinkfield as a possible sleeper to make the team. But the coaching staff obviously saw nothing overly impressive from his performance thus far during OTA’s and Miami’s rookie mini-camp.

Courtney Gardner, a 6’4″ 215 lbs. receiver, played one season of college ball at Sierra College totaling 61 receptions for 1,099 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2011. Gardner then planned to play for the University of Oklahoma during the 2012 season but could not meet their academic standards. A similar situation occurred this past 2013 season when Gardner planned to attend LSU. He then opted to declare for the NFL Draft.

Gardner definitely has the size and the measureables Miami is seriously lacking at the wide receiver position, but this guy is clearly a project. Realistically speaking, he is mostly just a body.
