Somehow it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Miami Dolphins fan base is ranked so low. A decade of losing, poor coaching, poor drafting, no franchise QB since Dan Marino, and of course years of misery from the front office has left the fan base with a bitter pill. Regardless of whether you are a Jeff Ireland supporter or hater the Dolphins didn’t simply drop to 29 overnight nor did they fall simply in the past four years that Ireland has been at the helm. Their fall dates back to Dave Wannstedt.
According to TicketCity.com Miami comes in 29th on their list of most engaged fans. Putting them above Kansas City, St. Louis, and Tampa who finished dead last and just below Jacksonville, Oakland and Cleveland.
You can visit the site to see how they got their numbers and while I don’t discount the fact that Miami fans are not exactly engaged I do find it flawed that Kansas City and Cleveland are ranked so low as is Oakland.
I think fans who live outside the city would of course have something to say about the lower ranking but the reality is losing does in fact breed disinterest, especially when the financial market forces fans to cut back on their entertainment spending and whoever said losing is entertaining.
