The Miami Dolphins sat back and watched as the rest of the NFL made changes to their rosters. The Dolphins seemed to be content sitting on their hands. That is not necessarily a bad thing but a team that has questions at several positions including questions with numbers of players kept on their roster, it seemed as though the Dolphins would be an active team today.
So far the Dolphins have claimed one player. Former Texans FB Tyler Clutts. A three year veteran. To make room the Dolphins issued Evan Rodriquez his walking papers. While Miami sat and watched (the NFL doesn’t release the names of teams who placed waiver claims and did not receive the player) the Jacksonville Jaguars added seven players including two TE’s. In Cleveland where Miami will visit next Sunday to open the season, six players were added. Kansas City added seven and even New England added four.
Two of the New England additions are former Dolphins. Chris Baker the offensive lineman and DT A.J. Francis who the Dolphins hoped to stash on their own practice squad.
With a week left before the start of the regular season, the Dolphins are loaded in the defensive secondary, thin at TE, and thin at WR. They could also use some offensive line help as well.
It should be noted that any player that is placed on waivers and claimed has their contracts picked up by the new team. The Dolphins may opt to add players after making visits to the team headquarters.
The Dolphins have also not officially added to their seven player practice squad. WR’s Brian Tyms and Marvin McNutt are rumored to be returning but the team has made nothing official yet.
