The Miami Dolphins, according to several media sources, have “finalized” a new four year deal with Dolphins LB Kos Misi. Misi was set to become a free agent at the end of the season. While not a dominant LB, Misi has improved in every season and is becoming a highly reliable veteran on the field.
Misi struggled in his first two seasons but last year had 65 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He has played much better under Kevin Coyle’s system. Misi was finishing a 4.5 million dollar contract and would have counted $650,000 off this years cap.
As I am writing this news has broken that Misi has indeed agreed to the extension. Reportedly worth up to $17 million, the contract comes with a reported 8 million guarantee. In reality the deal is good contract for Miami and a solid deal for Misi.
The Dolphins lock up a player that is starting to grow with the team at a minimum cost of 8 million. The Dolphins have been one of the more savvy front offices with contracts under the eye of capologist Dawn Aponte.
