Dolphins Fans Deserve Credit

The Miami Dolphins fan base is not exactly comparable to say the Green Bay Cheeseheads.  Or the Browns DawgPound.  Or about 15 to 20 other NFL teams.  It’s a fact not a slant on those living within distance to watch a game live rather than in the AC of their own home.  Over the last decade and a half attendance has dwindled.  Just like the Dolphins win total.

Today the fans showed up!

The Dolphins needed a strong home team crowd and while there will still plenty of teal seats showing and orange seats around the rim, the stadium was as full today as it has been in years.  The raucous crowd even got props from the broadcasting crew of Chris Meyers and Tim Ryan.  Ryan and Meyers both made comments regarding the noise level in the stadium.

Following the tying TD by Brian Hartline the stadium erupted making it difficult for the Atlanta offense.  When the Falcons moved back down the field to set up the go ahead FG the Dolphins fans didn’t let air get sucked out of the stadium.  They came back stronger and louder.  If 2-0 did this much for the stadium what will 3-1 or 4-0 do when the team returns from New Orleans next week?  I imagine it will be packed.

I haven’t been to a home game with a sold out crowd in over two decades but will be live for the Buffalo game following the bye week.  It’s safe to say that if the Dolphins continue to play this way and win the stadium will be a site I have not witnessed since the days of Dan Marino.

I am pretty hard on the Miami fan base and I honestly don’t try to hide it.  Today, I give them a world of props because they had as much to do with the Miami win as the game winning drive by Tannehill.  We now know the answer to the question of when will the Dolphins fans return?  Apparently 2-o is a great start.
