Richie Incognito Files Grievance Against Dolphins

It was bound to happen.  The Miami Dolphins suspended OG Richie Incognito indefinitely for a racially charged voice mail to Jonathan Martin.  Incognito to this day defends himself and his name.  Earlier this week Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said he would not meet with Incognito unless he was forced to while saying he would meet with Martin.  Ross was “appalled” at the nature of the VM.

Now, Richie is demanding more than just his name cleared.  He is demanding a special hearing to resolve his suspension.  The Dolphins suspension was/is indefinitely which means he can be out for four games before the Dolphins must either release him or take him back.  That latter is not likely.  The move to suspension will save the Dolphins money as players on suspension do not get paid.  The Dolphins will have to pay him all of his guaranteed money once they release him minus the suspension checks.

The grievance filed today was not unexpected.  Incognito has stated all along that he and Martin were and are friends and still does not know why Martin has taken the approach he has.  Incognito has missed one game thus far the Monday night game against Tampa.  He wasn’t suspended until after the Halloween game against Cincinnati.  He left that game in the first quarter with a neck injury.
