Much maligned Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas, who has stepped up in recent weeks and begun showing the promise initially expected when he was drafted, is reportedly done for the season. Reports out of Miami this morning have Mike Sherman confirming that Thomas suffered a torn ligament in his ankle. While not fully confirmed at this time, expect Thomas to miss extended time, if not the remainder of the season.
In Thomas’s absence, expect rookie Mike Gillislee and Marcus Thigpen to see an increased role in the Dolphins backfield, along with more snaps for Lamar Miller. Miller and Thomas have been sharing the load in the backfield this season, and despite the lack of production from the Miami backfield the blame does not fully lie with the teams running backs. This story will be updated as more information is confirmed surrounding the injury.
