The chances of Jonathan Martin returning to the Miami Dolphins this season was exceptionally small. Today, the team ended any lingering speculation when they moved Martin off the active roster and on to the non-football injury list. The move will give Miami an open spot on the roster. It’s something they should have done a couple of weeks ago.
The chances of Martin returning to the Dolphins during the off-season are also slim. The Dolphins could opt to trade the disgruntled tackle after the start of the league new year. The problem is Martin’s value. He has little if any considering the terms of his departure from the team. While others may opt to take a chance on him, it’s unlikely that Martin will find a warm welcome inside a locker room unless it is with a team who has former team mates from Stanford already on it.
Regardless of what Martin’s camp wants the public to believe regarding Martin’s character, he will be hard pressed to find other NFL team mates willing to trust him.
