Auburn Sings...Ding Dong the Witch is Dead

Yesterday, Miami Dolphins fans rejoiced when Auburn’s Chris Davis returned Alabama’s short field goal 109 yards for a game-winning touchdown in the Iron Bowl.

Dolphin fans joined Ohio State fans (I still think Auburn should jump them, but that’s a different point) and Auburn fans as they celebrated the elusive defeat of Alabama. Oh sorry did I say Alabama? I meant Nick Saban.

Miami fans despise Nick Saban. Who cares that it’s been seven years since he unexpectedly left the Dolphins and left us with Cam Cameron and a subsequent 1-15 record. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we’ve had THREE head coaches since then and have only made the playoffs once?

I remember going into the second season with Saban hopes were high with the Dolphins organization. They even got some love from the national media—Sports Illustrated projected Miami to lose to Carolina in the Superbowl. The Superbowl!

Hate him or not, Nick Saban is a coaching genius and is arguably the best college football coach in the history of the sport. That’s what makes it so painful. Every year we’re reminded of what could’ve been when Saban leads his team to a national championship and a top three ranking. Every year.

Never fear, though, because yesterday Auburn pulled out the greatest ending in the history of college football and brought down the witch—well at least for this season. So celebrate while you can, Dolphin fans, because today the witch is dead and there’s a new sheriff in town at the top of the rankings and it’s not Saban’s squad.

So with that in mind, now its time for the Dolphins to right their ship and take down the other entity Dolfans despise–the New York Jets.
