Dolphins Mike Sherman Could Be Gone

Nothing is coming out of Miami right now in terms of the fate of the Miami Dolphins head coach and general manager.  While it remains quiet there is an increasing feel from the Dolphins locker room that offensive coordinator Mike Sherman may or at least from the players view “should” be on the way out.

According to’s Adam Beasley VIA Twitter, “There’s a sense in the Dolphins locker room that Mike Sherman will and should be gone.”

This could be the news that allows fans to wrap their heads around HC Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland staying.  It says nothing of Kevin Coyle the defensive coordinator but there is little question that Mike Sherman has been at the top of the fans ire all season.  His play calling and half-time adjustments have been the butt of many jokes all year.  His comparisons to former OC Dan Henning have also been top of the line sarcastic.

When one media guy throws out a “insider” look at the team you tend to dismiss it but NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington who maintains a very close relationship with many of the Dolphins players said VIA Twitter that many players feel it’s time for Tannehill to “graduate from Sherman”.  There is little question that Tannehill’s production is somewhat guarded with Sherman as the OC and after two seasons the reigns have not been taken off the young QB.

While Tannehill still has issues with his long ball, he as improved tremendously with his pocket presence.  A change at OC might just take Tannehill to the next level…or just as easily expose him as a one system QB.  I don’t think the latter is the case.

If he does go I hope he takes #33,#59, #52, and #17 with him.

I think #17 has a chance under a new offensive coordinator who isn’t blind and stubborn and has some creativity. If he can’t learn another system than this joke of a system they have now, then yes, he should also go!

Your way off on tannehill a pocket presence! He has none and must go when Sherman and Coyle and philbin and Ireland go! Miamis defense has been horrible! Coyle seems to get a pass and it’s a joke! I heard in the summer how he was gonna throw a defense out there like no one seen before! Apparently he was 1000000000 percent wrong! No name players completely torched this defense and that’s on him solely!

Clean house! Look at the last two games: Ireland and Philbin spent two years (and lots of money) building this team, and this is what happens when the playoffs are in their grasp.

Sherman should definitely go. The defense has been a disappointment, but I think Coyle should be given one more year. I hope philbin promotes someone in house to be offensive coordinator.

Philbin should take over that task with someone else who knows what the hell he’s doing as our head coach. I said a long time ago that he should’ve taken over the play calling. Well look at us now. It’s too damn late.

I’ve been a Dolphin fan for 43 years and have never been more embarrassed about it than now. Even the year the fins went 1-15 wasn’t so bad because it was expected. To watch them implode the last 2 games the way they did with everyone looking like they didn’t have a clue has made me sick to my stomach. I feel it necessary to completely clean house because if you ever listen to the interviews of the coaching staff all you hear is how they have to review the tape or they had a good practice. I bet the offense does look good at practice going against Coyle’s schemes and visa versa with the Defense going against Sherman’s schemes. Obviously Philbin is not head coaching material because he definitely can’t fire his squad up for important games amongst other failures on his behalf. The only thing he did right was keeping the team on track for their end of the season letdown during the bully scandal. Ireland can’t draft and lets players leave and replaces them with lessor talent at their positions. Tannehill will never develop into a franchise qb under Sherman and Coyle has no idea how to use the talent that’s on the defense. So much promise, so much hope gone in a blink of an eye. #completelydisgusted
