Dolphins Save Rex Ryan’s Job

That didn’t take long.  In fact it came right after the game.  New York Jets owner Woody Johnson was quick to Twitter where he announced that the Jets would be keeping Rex Ryan around for another season.  While it’s not known whether he would have kept the coach if the Jets had lost, it was alarmingly quick after they won.

“We’re going to keep Rex Ryan, and he’s going to be our coach next year. I couldn’t be any prouder of this team.” Johnson said.

Way to go Miami!

Ryan has been a joke in NY for the last two years and a few weeks ago it was a foregone conclusion that he would be fired.  Imagine the irony if ole Rexy gets to keep his job and the safety net falls from under Joe Philbin.

While Woody Johnson was all excited about his season ending win, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told the Miami Herald that he would be looking at “everything” following two consecutive losses to get eliminated from the playoffs.  What exactly “everything” means is up for interpretation.  He was not thrilled to say the least and pressure from the fan base may force his hand.

Ross alluded to a decision not being made soon saying that “you don’t make business decisions while upset”.  We will see what happens when he isn’t so upset.

    Jets can have him

I agree. I think he is a great defensive coach but as a HC it’s above his knowledge base.

Thanks to a great choke, Ryan will still be in the division.

    Thats bad news for us.

It was never a “foregone conclusion that he would be fired”. In fact, PRIOR to today’s game, it came out in the NYC media that Rex would be back.
