The Miami Dolphins will begin hosting candidates for their vacant General Manager position. Regardless of what the actual job description will ultimately be. Sorry, Tom Gamble’s name is not on the list.
The Dolphins have lined up several initial talks with Mark Ross of the New York Giants, no relation, Tennessee Titan executive Lake Dawson, and have announced today that Cleveland Browns Assistant GM Ray Farmer will also be interviewed for the job as well.
None of the names inspire ticket sales and two of the three come from organizations who have consistently failed to make the playoffs.
While the GM search is going public, the OC search is much more guarded with only leaks and rumors flying out of Davie. Kyle Shannahan the son of Mike Shannahan is in consideration for the OC position as is Gary Kubiak. Both are at this time only rumors. The Dolphins have only interviewed one candidate thus far publicly. The QB coach for Philadelphia.
Another rumor making it’s round today is that Dawn Aponte, one of four candidates for the vacant VP job with the NFL, has removed her name from consideration. If that rumor holds true then the power that Aponte will yield in Miami has to be at the top of the Dolphins food chain or she would have continued to fight for the NFL job. There has been no official confirmation of her removal from that list.
