McAdoo Interviews for Dolphins’ OC Vacancy

The Miami Dolphins will meet today with Ben McAdoo, the QB coach of the Green Bay Packers, about Miami’s current Offensive Coordinator opening.  McAdoo  has also drawn interest for the same position from the New York Giants.  He has been looked at by the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching vacancy.

The Miami Herald reported last week that McAdoo is the favorite for the job.

He has the praise of Aaron Rodgers and HC Mike McCarthy, but does that mean he is the right man for the job?  Only time will tell.  The parallels between McAdoo and recently fired Dolphins’ OC Mike Sherman are scarily similar.  Both were coaches in Green Bay, and both worked with stellar QB’s.  McAdoo’s success with both Rodgers and Matt Flynn (during Rodgers’ absence) were impressive.  Despite losing their franchise QB for most of the season, the Green Bay QB replacements were able to win games and eventually led to Green Bay’s playoff birth, and a lot of that was a result of good coaching by McAdoo.

Regardless of if McAdoo is hired or not, change at the position was an absolute must for this Miami Dolphins team.  They did the right thing in firing Mike Sherman, now they just need to find a creative and flexible replacement.

FINS UP!

NOTE: McAdoo, as of Tuesday January 14th, took the Offensive Coordinator job for the New York Giants.

McAdoo is going to the Giants; he probably wants nothing to do with Philbin. Ross really screwed up by not cleaning house. He has to find a GM who likes what Philbin wants to do, and it appears that Philbin’s former co-worker doesn’t want to work under him.

I wonder if Miami offered him the job, didn’t like him, or what. Maybe McAdoo didn’t like what he heard in the interview. I thought McAdoo was the front runner for the OC position. Also lazor has been hired so Miami better move fast if they want to have a choice and not just the last man left. And why isn’t Zac Taylor getting an interview?
