That didn’t take long. Brian Gaine is no longer employed by the Miami Dolphins only a few days after being passed over for the GM job. The Dolphins opted to hire Dennis Hickey instead. The move was expected as most GM’s do not retain the former regime’s assistant. The timing is a bit surprising as Gaine was the top Miami Dolphin representative at last weeks Senior Bowl.
There is no word yet on the rest of the Dolphins scouting department.
Gaine worked for the Dolphins since the arrival of Jeff Ireland and was promoted to Assistant GM in 2012. In his time with the Dolphins and the NFL, Gaine has developed a very solid reputation across the NFL landscape. It’s likely that he will latch on to another team before the start of the NFL new year which rings in with the start of free agency in March.
The Dolphins announced that the parting was mutual.
