Miami Dolphins Ink Delmas

The Miami Dolphins talked about landing big time safety Jarius Byrd in free agency.  Must have been a ploy to get Louis Delmas to sign.  He did.  Today.  The deal is reportedly a one year max deal with a max salary of 3.5 million  according to Pro-Football Talk.com.

Delmas is a good but could be great safety.  The issue is his health.  Delmas played in all 16 games last season but has missed 13 games in the two seasons prior due to knee issues.  Last year he reportedly missed practice time to rest his knees.  Delmas can be a hard hitter from the deep secondary and has solid closing speed.  He had three interceptions and two sacks last season with Detroit.

The move will likely mean the end of Chris Clemons in Miami.  Set to become a free agent tomorrow afternoon, the Dolphins will likely explore more safety options in May’s draft.
